Madi at the dawn of

the third millennium

Instead of painting in its traditional orthogonal frame, visualize

this: polygonal forms, contoured surfaces, "coplanals", manual or

motorized mobiles and open sculptures, all inventing new spaces.

Add to theseingredients an art form which celebrates asymmetry and

the three-dimensional. Finally, add a generous amount of vibrant colour

and playfullness. Are there any other current art movements or artists

that can claim to usingsuch varied or innovative templates?

What is Madi ?

Long term loan to the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art. Tarpon Springs, FL

Animated sculpture, visually demonstrating playful MADI concepts

of polygonal and tridimensional art. Using an infra-red system,

this sculpture piece opens and closes at the approach of a

spectator. Its movement is also coordinated to a musical

accompaniment, a specially composed work of the same

name by the world renowned composer Guillermo Gregorio.
